Rami bar Abba said: A wild beast does not gain power over a person until that person appears to it as a domestic animal, as it is said, "Man does not abide in honor; he is likened to the beasts that perish" (Psalms 49:13). Rabbi Hanina said: It is forbidden to sleep in a house alone, and anyone who sleeps in a house alone is seized by Lilith.

אָמַר רָמֵי בַּר אַבָּא: אֵין חַיָּה שׁוֹלֶטֶת בָּאָדָם עַד שֶׁנִּדְמָה לוֹ כִּבְהֵמָה, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: ״אָדָם בִּיקָר בַּל יָלִין נִמְשַׁל כַּבְּהֵמוֹת נִדְמוּ״. אָמַר רַבִּי חֲנִינָא: אָסוּר לִישַׁן בַּבַּיִת יְחִידִי, וְכׇל הַיָּשֵׁן בַּבַּיִת יְחִידִי — אֹחַזְתּוֹ לִילִית.
