Life in the World to Come

Eliyahu Rabbah 4:19

Life without pain and without the evil impulse in the days of the son of David and in the world to come. How so? In the future, the Holy One, blessed be He, will sit in His study hall, and the righteous of the world will sit before Him. The Holy One, blessed be He, will provide for them, for their wives, their sons and daughters, their male servants and female servants, all the needs of their households, and the Holy Spirit will rest upon them, as it is said: "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy" (Joel 3:1), and also, "Even upon the male servants and upon the female servants in those days I will pour out My spirit" (Joel 3:2). And it says: "Complacent women, rise; hear my voice; confident daughters, give ear to my speech" (Isaiah 32:9). I said "without the evil impulse," as it is said: "I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will place within you; I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh" (Ezekiel 36:26). "A new spirit I will place within you" refers to good deeds. "I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh" refers to the evil impulse. "I will give you a heart of flesh" refers to the good impulse, so that one may fulfill all the words of Torah, which are doubled in every place.
